The sequel represents a return to what made Diablo so beloved in the first place, while still embracing the parts of Diablo 3 that were universally considered good. Given how well Diablo 3's gameplay was translated to consoles, players should expect the same quality for Diablo 4. It was the first Blizzard release on consoles in the company's modern era, and it paved the way for Overwatch, Diablo 2: Resurrected, and now Diablo 4 to follow. Though Diablo 3 was one of the best-selling PC titles of 2012, when the Ultimate Evil Edition came out for PS4 and Xbox One, it significantly revitalized the game's audience. The game does not have a release date yet on the system. No matter where Diablo 4 players come from or what their platform of choice is, Blizzard has announced in a press release that the next installment of the franchise will feature cross-platform play and no region lock, allowing friends to enjoy the game together with no restrictions. This isn’t an optimal feature because the console version doesn’t support Keyboard or Mouse and such a functionality is built in the PS3 as shown by Unreal Tournament 3. “Similarly, since Diablo III for console was designed with a controller in mind, the PlayStation version of Diablo III will not support USB mice or keyboards.” In terms of allowing an analog controller hookup for the PC, we don’t have any plans for that kind of support right now. “As a result, the characters on your account and PlayStation account will also remain separate. “While we think cross-platform play would be awesome, there are currently no plans to allow connectivity between PlayStation Network and (this is pretty standard for most games that have PC and console support),” community manager Vaeflare wrote on the Blizzard forums. Diablo 3 has been confirmed to be releasing on the PS3 and PS4, and it also has offline play unlike the PC version, but the console and PC platform audience cannot interact with each other through cross play because that functionality won’t be available, Blizzard has revealed.
